KATE.
Quietly indispensable.

KATE works as a Progressive Web App — no App Store, no Play Store needed. Add it to your home screen in under a minute and it behaves just like a native app.

iPhone or iPad
You must use Safari — Chrome and other browsers on iOS do not support home screen installation. Open app.hikate.co.uk in Safari before you begin.

Open Safari and go to app.hikate.co.uk
Type the address into Safari's address bar. Sign in if prompted — the app needs to load fully before installing.
Important: This will not work in Chrome or Firefox on iPhone. It must be Safari.

Tap the Share button
At the bottom of the screen, tap the Share icon — a box with an arrow pointing upward.

Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen"
A menu appears from the bottom. Scroll through the options until you see Add to Home Screen and tap it.

Tap "Add" to confirm
You'll see a preview with the KATE icon and name. Tap Add in the top right corner.
You're all set.
KATE is on your home screen. Tap it to open — it launches full screen, no browser chrome.

Android phone or tablet
Use Chrome for the smoothest experience. Open app.hikate.co.uk in Chrome before you begin.

Open Chrome and go to app.hikate.co.uk
Sign in if prompted. The app needs to fully load before you can install it.

Look for the install banner — or use the menu
Chrome may show an "Add to home screen" banner at the bottom automatically. Tap it if it appears.
If not, tap the three-dot menu in the top right of Chrome.

Tap "Add to Home screen" or "Install app"
Find and tap Add to Home screen in the menu. Some Android versions show Install app instead — either works.

Tap "Add" or "Install" to confirm
KATE will appear on your home screen within a few seconds.
You're all set.
KATE is on your home screen. Open it and sign in — or continue where you left off.

Desktop — Chrome or Edge
KATE can be installed as a desktop app on Windows, Mac, and ChromeOS via Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Safari on Mac does not support PWA installation.

Open Chrome or Edge and go to app.hikate.co.uk
Sign in if prompted. The page needs to fully load before the install option appears.

Look for the install icon in the address bar
In Chrome, look for a small screen icon with a download arrow on the right side of the address bar. In Edge, look for a + icon. Click it.
Can't see it? Open the three-dot menu and look for Install KATE or Apps → Install this site as an app.

Click "Install" to confirm
A small dialog will appear. Click Install. KATE opens in its own window and a shortcut is added to your desktop or taskbar.
You're all set.
KATE is installed as a desktop app. Find it in your applications or use the desktop shortcut.

KATE also works in any browser — no install needed
You don't have to install it. app.hikate.co.uk works in any modern browser on any device. Installing to your home screen just makes it faster to open and gives you a full-screen experience without browser navigation in the way.
